# Quick Start

Start with the decision Behavioral Strategy makes explicit: **which behavior should a product, program, or policy help people perform?** This page gives a short route through the existing references.

## 1. Understand the definition

Read [What is Behavioral Strategy?](https://behavioralstrategy.com/definition/) for the applied definition, Jason Hreha's contribution, and the method's scope.

The central sequence is to define the outcome, compare possible behaviors, test their fit with people and context, and design the system around the supported choice.

## 2. See what needs evidence

The [Four-Fit hierarchy](https://behavioralstrategy.com/glossary/four-fit/) separates the problem, behavior, solution, and sustained product or program questions. Evidence for one question does not automatically answer the next.

## 3. Compare candidate behaviors

The [Behavior Fit Assessment](https://behavioralstrategy.com/glossary/behavior-fit-assessment/) uses Dispositional Fit, Capability Fit, and Context Fit to structure the comparison. Ratings identify questions and possible constraints. They do not establish viability without observation.

Use the [BFA worksheet](https://behavioralstrategy.com/downloads/behavior-fit-assessment-worksheet/) to record the evidence and gaps. The [selection guide](https://behavioralstrategy.com/methodology/choose-target-behavior/) explains the current process.

## 4. Follow the method

The [DRIVE Framework](https://behavioralstrategy.com/methodology/drive-framework/) connects Define, Research, Integrate, Verify, and Enhance to those decisions. Continue to the [BMF validation guide](https://behavioralstrategy.com/methodology/validate-behavior-market-fit/) and [measurement standards](https://behavioralstrategy.com/standards/measurement/) when you need to plan a test or interpret a result.

## 5. Check examples and limits

Read the [case library](https://behavioralstrategy.com/cases/) alongside the [evidence overview](https://behavioralstrategy.com/evidence/). Many cases are retrospective interpretations, not projects that used this method at the time. The integrated approach and its screening tools have not been independently validated as a complete system.
